Allison Transmission to Host Ride & Drive at Japan Truck Show at Fuji Speedway October 29

TOKYO, October 10, 2023 – Allison Transmission Japan, the Japanese subsidiary of Allison Transmission Inc., will exhibit and hold a Ride & Drive experience at the Japan Truck Show at the Fuji Speedway October 29. Participants at the Ride & Drive event may drive a Hino Ranger GK mixer truck equipped with the Allison 3500 and a Hino Ranger FC dump truck equipped with the Allison 1000 Series™ at the 6 km course at the Fuji Speedway.

The Japan Truck Show, a biannual exhibition started in 2016, is hosting a hands-on exhibition like none-other given its race track location for the first time this year. It is truly a unique opportunity for participants to experience firsthand the difference a fully automatic transmission can make.

Allison Booth
An Allison 3500 fully automatic transmission will be on display, both disassembled and reassembled to show the internal structure of the transmission including the patented torque converter and other components typically unseen. While commercial vehicles are shifting to smaller displacement engines to reduce environmental impact, Allison’s torque converter amplifies torque at startup by approximately double, providing almost the same driving force as a vehicle equipped with a manual transmission or a semi-automatic transmission starting in first or second gear. At the booth, visitors will be able to see a video demonstration of the smooth driving performance of the Allison 3500 Series™ on snowy and mountainous roads.

Ride & Drive Event
Participants may experience a Hino Ranger GK mixer truck and FC dump truck either behind the wheel or as a passenger at the 6 km course at the Fuji Speedway. Allison engineers will be on-site to further explain how Allison fully transmissions enable smoother shifting and more powerful driving in comparison to manual transmissions. Please note a large-size driver's license is required to drive the GK mixer truck and a medium-size driver's license is required to drive the FC dump truck.
