Allison Authorized Service Network Expands in Australia as Fully Automatic Transmission Sales Continue to Accelerate

Heavy Automatics’ new service centre in Wacol, Queensland.

SYDNEY, March 5, 2024 – As the number of on-highway, off-highway and defence vehicles fitted with Allison fully automatic transmission systems continues to grow, so does the Allison Authorized Service Network.

Australia is a major market for Allison, the largest global manufacturer of fully automatic transmissions for commercial and defence vehicles.

Heavy Automatics, Penske Australia Pty Ltd.  and Transdiesel, all Allison Authorized Distributors, have been gearing up during the last 12 months to address the growing number of Allison-equipped vehicles in the country.

“While our distribution partners are increasing their service capabilities to support the growing number of Allison-equipped vehicles in Australia, our customers will continue to see value over the lifetime of their vehicles as Allison transmissions are more cost-effective due to lower maintenance,” said Robert Cavagnino, Head of Australia Sales at Allison Transmission. “We design and manufacture a quality product and work very closely with our customers to be able to articulate what is needed for the harsh Australian environment, aiding resilient vehicles to overcome myriad challenges.”

Heavy Automatics, which has more than 100 Allison-trained staff working across Australia, opened a new 1,500 square metre service centre in Wacol, Queensland in June, which is conveniently located within close proximity to multiple commercial vehicle original equipment manufacturers.

Additionally, Penske Australia, a long-term partner of Allison’s for 70 years, opened a new site in Yatala near Gold Coast, Queensland in September, increasing its number of major service centres across the country to 15.

Transdiesel also settled into its new flagship servicing centre, a 5500 square-metre facility in Epping, Victoria, increasing its footprint significantly and providing direct access to customers from the Hume Freeway.

In the past few years, Allison saw impressive growth in the Australian commercial vehicle industry, particularly in medium-duty trucks. A major factor driving the adoption of Allison fully automatic transmissions is ease of operation, along with smooth shifts and uninterrupted power delivery.

“Allison Automatics allow fleets to have drivers with varying levels of experience and with the drivetrain doing the work there’s less fatigue for the driver and more precise operation ability. This allows drivers to focus of the task at hand,” said Cavagnino. “Allison’s superior performance encompasses startability, gradeability and steady acceleration, covering duty-cycles at higher average speeds.”
