Allison Transmission is proud to announce the completion of two acquisitions — Vantage Power, a UK-based start-up in electrification, battery systems, and vehicle telematics, and AxleTech’s electric vehicle systems division (EVS). Completion of these acquisitions not only complements, but will also accelerate our electrification strategy, and research and development in digitalization and connectivity.
The acquisition of these two innovative organizations will allow Allison to lead the commercial vehicle industry forward with highly integrated electrified propulsion solutions, as well as, complete in electrified systems. The acquired AxleTech product lines are highly integrated, e-axle solutions, the first of their kind in the heavy-duty truck and bus markets. These differentiated products provide a substantial increase in power density and capability versus competitive products. Moving forward, our electrification strategy entails leveraging and growing current capabilities and technologies to provide a full range of electrification solutions. We will supply solutions to the level desired by our customers and OEM partners — from components to complete solutions.
Vantage Power is an award-winning London-based technology company specializing in developing electrified propulsion and connected vehicle technologies for medium- and heavy-duty vehicle manufacturers and their suppliers. With particular focus on battery technology development, vehicle integration and control systems, as well as vehicle connectivity and telemetry, Vantage Power technologies have been deployed in a wide range of applications including complete electric hybrid repower systems for buses to grid energy storage.
AxleTech is a leading technology company that designs, engineers, manufactures, sells and services axles and integrated electrified axle solutions for on- and off-highway heavy-duty commercial vehicles. With industrial roots established in 1919, the company’s nearly 800 worldwide employees drive the company to develop advanced powertrain systems, axles, components and aftermarket parts for global customers. The EV systems division is located at AxleTech’s headquarters in Troy, Michigan.
Allison Bus e-Axle (ABE)
Allison Transmission is introducing the new ABE Series, the first e-axle advanced ultra-low floor electric bus powertrain system in the market. The ABE Series e-axles are one of the world’s most powerful and compact fully integrated electric axles for the transit bus market.
The ABE Series integrates dual electric motors, a single- or multi-speed gearbox (depending on e-axle model), oil coolers, pumps and power electronics into a bolt-in system that replaces the entire traditional powertrain within the existing frame. Allison Truck e-Axle (AXE)
Allison Transmission is introducing the new AXE Series, one of the most powerful e-axle systems for medium- and heavy-duty trucks in the world. A fully integrated electric powertrain system designed to fit inside a standard frame along the axles of commercial trucks; the AXE Series features electric motors, a 2-speed gearbox, oil coolers and pumps. Walker Die Casting, Inc. (“Walker”) is a for-profit Tennessee corporation that has produced high-quality aluminum die castings since 1958. Walker is located in Lewisburg, Tennessee. The Lewisburg facility produces castings for various automobile parts, commercial vehicle parts and outboard motor parts for customers throughout the United States and in various foreign countries.
C&R Tool produces die cast dies and tooling using the latest technology and processes. Founded in 1956, the company is located in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
