SÃO PAULO – August 2024 - Allison Transmission, a leading manufacturer of conventional and electrified vehicle propulsion solutions and the largest global manufacturer of fully automatic transmissions for commercial vehicles, will exhibit at Lat.Bus & Transpúblico (Latin American Transport Fair), which takes place from August 6 to 8 at the São Paulo Expo Exhibition & Convention Center. Allison's booth is located at the show’s entrance on Street E, Stand 10.

Allison and the School Path Program

Allison continues to actively advance propulsion solutions for public transportation companies looking to meet new industry requirements and to improve quality of life for their passengers. Most recently, Allison is proud to equip a significant part of Brazil’s school bus fleet this year as part of the School Path Program, which aims to provide public school students with access to safer and more reliable transportation.

The Allison 2100 xFE™ Torqmatic® Series transmission meets the three categories of the tender issued by the National Fund for Educational Development (FNDE) - a federal agency linked to the Ministry of Education - Rural School Bus I, Rural School Bus I 4x4 and Urban School Bus low-floor, respectively with the Volare Attack 8, Attack 8 4x4 and Access vehicles, all in partnership with Agrale. The first unit of the Program, equipped with an Allison Automatic to serve children living in the most remote parts of the country, was delivered in March in the state of Ceará. A second and larger batch of these buses began to be delivered in May, this time in the state of Pernambuco.

The buses will help ensure that elementary students have access to reliable transportation to travel significant distances over rural, unpaved roads to get to and from school each day. The improvement in transportation quality that has led to the inclusion of fully automatic transmissions in school buses also benefits drivers, who can keep both hands on the wheel, pay full attention to the roads and have reduced fatigue. The fully automatic models are easier to operate on roads with mud, gravel or sand, which are common in the rural areas of the northern and northeastern regions of Brazil where the Allison-equipped buses will operate.

Public transportation worldwide has chosen Allison Automatics

More than 200,000 city buses, carrying around 20 million passengers daily, make up the public transportation fleets of the world's major capitals and run on the widest range of Allison automatic transmissions around the globe. Allison equips buses ranging in size from 7 to 27 meters and offers solutions that support sustainability and environmental initiatives, such as hybrid propulsion systems.

With its renowned xFE technology designed to enable more significant lock up operation of the torque converter, the transmission remains in higher gears for longer at lower engine speeds, providing exceptional fuel economy. The new gear ratios also allow the torque converter to engage at lower speeds, considerably improving fuel economy.

With longer service intervals and a proven record of reliability, Allison Automatics also help control fleet costs. With Continuous Power Technology™, wear and damage to the vehicle are significantly reduced and provide reliable, smoother and more comfortable driving for the driver.

"This collaboration between Allison and Volare was formed to directly support the goals of the School Path program, which strives to make certain that students have reliable transportation to the public education system," said Gabriel Ruggiero, Regional Director of Operations for South America at Allison Transmission. "This is just a small sample of what we can do for public passenger transportation in Brazil. We have transmissions of all sizes to equip Brazilian buses, just as we do throughout the rest of the world”.
