Allison has quadrupled the number of Allison Authorized Service locations across the country.

TOKYO, May 24, 2024–Over the last 10 years, Allison Transmission Authorized Service Coverage in Japan has grown from 7 to 29 locations in response to the growing demand for Allison-equipped vehicles. Allison-equipped vehicles have significantly increased in number as leading Japanese OEMs specify Allison fully automatic transmissions as standard equipment.

The Allison Torqmatic® Series has been installed on more than 70% of large city buses in the Japanese market, including the Mitsubishi Fuso Aerostar bus, which integrated Allison transmissions as standard equipment in 2010. Furthermore, bus operators across the country have increasingly favored medium-sized city buses equipped with the Allison Torqmatic Series due to their robust performance and dependability. The TorqmaticSerieswasfirst installed on medium-sized city buses in Japan in 2020 as optional equipment. Today, Allison fully automatic transmissions are standard equipment on medium-sized city buses produced by the Japanese bus manufacturer J-Bus. The number of Allison-equipped vehicles at bus operators across Japan more than doubled in 2023 compared to the previous year.

In May 2022, Allison signed a distributor agreement with Chikuho Seisakusho Co., Ltd. to further expand the Allison Authorized service network in the Chugoku, Shikoku, Kyushu,  and Okinawa regions. In January, Allisons signed a service dealer agreement with Sanko Diesel Co., Ltd. to expand service coverage into Okayama prefecture. In April, SYNAGY Corporation, which has been providing maintenance services for Allison products in Aichi prefecture since 1992, will begin servicing Allison products at its Gifu branch to strengthen after-sales service in the Chubu region.

"Allison Transmission has become standard equipment for medium-sized city buses, and, as we expect the number of such buses used by bus operators in the Chubu region to increase, we decided to have our Gifu branch enter into a service dealer agreement with Allison,” said Yukihide Ito, Director of SYNERGY Corporation.“We have six Allison-certified service mechanics who have cultivated their Allison fully automatic transmission maintenance and inspection skills over the years. We provide prompt and courteous service so that end users can operate Allison products for an extended period with peace of mind, and we plan to expand the number of Allison-certified service mechanics at our Gifu branch.”

“The maintenance of such important bus and truck components is very responsible and rewarding work; it not only lets our staff acquire new skills, it also allows us to support the infrastructure of the local community,” said Ito. “We hope to enable the creation of jobs in the local community by increasing the number of employees and expanding the use of Allison products in the future.”

Allison Transmission Japan hosts seminars on maintenance, including automatic transmission fluid replacement procedures, mainly for operators adopting medium-sized city buses equipped with Allison fully automatic transmissions for the first time. It also conducts and stresses the importance of periodic inspections of operators. The company plans to expand its service network in the Kyushu region to further improve customer satisfaction throughout Japan.
