PACCAR offers Allison Neutral at Stop Technology as Standard Offering for Vehicles Equipped with Allison Rugged Duty Series™ Transmissions
INDIANAPOLIS, September 11, 2025 – Allison Transmission is proud to announce that its Neutral at Stop fuel saving technology is now the standard offering on Kenworth and Peterbilt models equipped with Allison 4700 Rugged Duty Series™ transmissions. This feature is designed to improve fuel efficiency and reduce operating costs for commercial fleets. This standardization will benefit fleets operating in stop-start duty cycles, such as urban delivery and refuse collection, where frequent stops are common.
Allison’s Neutral at Stop improves vehicle efficiency by automatically shifting the transmission to neutral when the vehicle is in gear and stopped, such as in traffic or at stop lights. As the driver prepares to accelerate, the transmission quickly shifts back into gear and enables the smooth, powerful vehicle movement expected from Allison transmissions. The technology minimizes the load on the engine, resulting in reduced fuel consumption and lower operating costs.
“Allison is proud to offer the Neutral at Stop feature as standard on Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks with our 4700 RDS transmissions,” said Rohan Barua, Vice President North America Sales, Global Channel and Aftermarket at Allison Transmission. “Our shared customers will benefit from this advanced fuel-efficient solution, while optimizing vehicle performance.”
Neutral at Stop is one feature of Allison’s FuelSense® 2.0 package, which in aggregate can achieve fuel savings of up to 6%. This significant reduction in fuel consumption not only helps lower operating costs but also contributes to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly operation.
