JAKARTA, Indonesia, May 14, 2024 – Allison Transmission, a global leader in designing and manufacturing conventional, electric hybrid, and fully electric vehicle propulsion solutions and the largest producer of fully automatic transmissions for medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles, has significantly enhanced efficiency at PT New Priok Container Terminal One(NPCT1). NPCT1, marking its eighth year of operation, stands as a cornerstone of Indonesia’s Priok Development initiative, aimed at bolstering international trade and realizing growth potential.

"Allison's transmission technology has consistently delivered a stable performance for our tractor operators," said Ahmad Muhsin, Assistant Engineer, Pelindo II, the port development company. "Since the inception of our operations, we have experienced no technical issues with Allison transmissions, contributing to the seamless operation of our terminal."

Situated in North Jakarta, NPCT1 serves as an extension of Tanjung Priok Harbor, Indonesia’s largest seaport, which manages more than half of the country’s international trade volume. The terminal boasts a substantial cargo volume, ranging from approximately 0.8 to 1 million TEU(Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit), and efficiently handles around 3,000 containers per day.

With a focus on efficiency, NPCT1 achieves impressive crane productivity, averaging 30 containers per crane per hour, and boasts a remarkable truck turnaround time of just 10 minutes. The terminal operates a fleet of 44 Terberg YT222 port tractors, all equipped with CumminsEURO 5 diesel engines and Allison 3000 Series™ fully automatic transmissions, ensuring smooth and reliable operation.

These tractors, capable of handling container trailers weighing up to 50 tons, operate around the clock navigating the bustling port environment. The terminal imposes speed limits, restricting empty trucks to 42 km/hr and loaded trucks to 37 km/hr. In this demanding setting, Allison fully automatic transmissions play a crucial role in reducing operator fatigue. Its seamless operation allows drivers to focus on their tasks without the distraction of manual gear shifting, contributing to the overall efficiency and productivity of port operations.
