CBK, a Daegu-based logistics company, plans to purchase Allison-equipped Hyundai PAVISE following its positive experience with the 5-ton Mega Truck purchased in 2014.
SEOUL, May 4, 2023 — Allison Transmission, a leading designer and manufacturer of conventional and electrified vehicle propulsion solutions and the largest global manufacturer of medium- and heavy-duty fully automatic transmissions for
commercial and defense vehicles, announced today that CBK, a Daegu-based logistics company, has been operating a Hyundai Mega Truck equipped with an Allison 2000 Series™ transmission for more than 900,000 kilometers since 2014 and plans to purchase
the Hyundai PAVISE in the future as the company has been very satisfied with Allison Automatics. In addition, CBK decided to expand its number of Allison-equipped vehicles because it can purchase automatic trucks at competitive prices while vehicle
prices have recently increased significantly.
CBK delivers goods handled by Emart Daegu Logistics Center to Jeolla-do, Gyeongsang-do and Chungcheong-do. Emart is Korea’s largest retailer and discount store chain.
"I have been in the transportation and logistics industry for more than 19 years, and I believe that automatic vehicles have become the main trend in both industries," said Woo Nam-joo, President, CBK.
"I bought the Mega Truck in 2014, and my vehicle was the first automatic vehicle in the entire Emart logistics center at that time," said Nam-joo. "Now, CBK operates several Mega Trucks with Allison fully automatic transmissions because the transmissions
are excellent in driving comfort, economy and durability."
"I am reluctant to drive a manual vehicle with clutch and gear shifting due to severe knee pain," said Nam-joo. "I am willing to purchase a PAVISE automatic when I change vehicles in the future because of the good reputation of Allison Automatics."
When driving a truck in the provinces, it is common to have to drive narrow roads and steep slopes where manual or automated transmissions often stall, which can be dangerous.
"Mega Truck’s automatic vehicles are reliable because its engine rarely turns off and stops on uphill roads as long as the accelerator is pressed like a passenger car," said Nam-joo.
In addition, vehicles with manual or automated manual transmissions have high maintenance costs, such as clutch replacements. However, Allison Automatics are very economical in the long term, as they only require periodic filter and fluid changes.
"CBK’s truck with over 900,000 kilometers is a testament to Allison’s reliability, comfortability and manueverability," said Kyoungmee Lee, Regional Director of Allison Transmission Korea. "Allison is proud to lead the transition to fully automatic transmissions."
