Allison Transmission Delivers 4000th Automatic Transmission for Light Commercial Bus

Allison Transmission’s fully automatic transmission has the advantage of excellent economic feasibility, easy driving, reliability and power

SEOUL, South Korea, April 22, 2022 – Allison Transmission delivered its 4000th fully automatic transmission specified for light commercial buses and hosted a celebration of the delivery with local customer, Daewoo Tour.

“Thanks to light commercial bus customers who experienced the excellent benefits of fully automatic transmissions and showed unwavering trust, Allison Transmission has been able to greet its 4000th customer,” said Kyoungmee Lee, Regional Director of Allison Transmission Korea. “We will continue to make efforts to achieve the best customer satisfaction in the 7-meter bus market through better service and technical support.”

Allison Transmission has been supplying fully automatic transmissions for the light commercial bus market in Korea since July 2013. Allison Transmission recently delivered a small gift and shared gratitude to Yang Hyung-Koo, president of Daewoo Tour at a a customer appreciation event held in Yeonsu-dong, Incheon, on their receipt of the 4000th light commercial bus with an Allison transmission.

Yang Hyung-Koo is operating Hyundai County buses, which are equipped with Allison Transmission’s fully automatic transmission. Yang is currently in charge of commuting and shuttle operation to the Dementia Prevention Center.

“This is my second time purchasing a County equipped with an Allison fully automatic transmission,” said Yang. “Because Allison transmissions are fuel-efficient in both street and high-way sections, and have low maintenance costs compared to manual transmissions, I can proudly recommend Allison fully automatic transmissions to my acquaintances.”

Allison currently supplies the Allison 1000 Series™ to Hyundai Motor County (T 1000 xFE™) and Lestar (T 1000) of Daewoo Bus Co., Ltd., and has a high market share in the light commercial bus market due to the excellent performance and economics of its fully automatic transmissions.

In particular, Allison fully automatic transmissions have the advantage of excellent economic feasibility compared to manual transmissions. Unlike manual transmissions which require additional maintenance costs for replacing clutch wear, the Allison Automatics do not use a clutch, which result in no maintenance costs being incurred other than replacing oil and filters.

Allison fully automatic transmissions provide optimal shift strategies that consider various driving conditions such as the number of persons on board, road conditions and cargo weight in order to maintain an appropriate balance between performance and fuel economy. Therefore, it is highly fuel-efficient and has no output interference, so it is able to perform its best regardless of the engine power. Allison fully automatic transmissions also do not require separate clutch and gear operations, so drivers can solely focus on driving.
