Hino Selects Allison Fully Automatic Transmissions for New Heavy-duty Trucks in Australia

Allison Transmission comes standard on four models of the HINO 700 Series with new engines and is used in a wide range of applications.

TOKYO, July 2021 - Allison Transmission Japan, the Japanese subsidiary of Allison Transmission, a leading designer and manufacturer of conventional and electrified vehicle propulsion solutions and the largest global manufacturer of medium- and heavy-duty fully automatic transmissions for commercial and defense vehicles, has announced that Allison 3000 Series™ and 4000 Series™ transmissions have been selected for the FS, FY and the new FH and FR models of Hino Motors’ HINO 700 Series heavy-duty trucks for the Australian market.

The HINO 700 Series was previously only available with a 13-liter engine, but a new 9-liter A09C engine has been added to the lineup, and models equipped with the A09C engine are now available with a 6-speed Allison fully automatic transmission. All models of the HINO 700 Series for Australia are Euro VI-compliant, and even with the smaller engine the torque converter amplifies the torque to deliver a smooth and powerful starting performance. Together with the adoption of Allison automatic transmissions that provide smooth gear shifting, air suspensions are also available with the HINO 700 Series FH, FS, and FR models, and are expected to be introduced to delivery vehicles that require more delicate transportation.

The Allison automatic transmission with torque converter not only provides excellent starting performance, but also achieves highly efficient driving performance by enabling smooth gear shifting that transmits torque to the tires without interruption through Continuous Power Technology™. The Allison fully automatic transmission has been highly evaluated by drivers for its stress reducing ease of operation. Customers in Australia from various industries have also provided feedback on how it improves productivity, which has resulted in increased sales in the Australian market of vehicles equipped with an Allison automatic transmission. The four models equipped with Allison automatic transmissions are expected to be used in a wide range of industries and applications, including delivery trucks, garbage trucks, mixer trucks and trailers.
