〜大手バス事業者で相次いで導入され、AT搭載車のシェアを高める〜
東京2023年8月7日発表—中型・大型商用車向けオートマチックトランスミッションの世界最大手メーカー、アリソントランスミッションの日本法人であるアリソンジャパン株式会社(取締役:ブライアン・ジーゼルハート)は、昨年12月にモデルチェンジした、ジェイ・バス製中型路線バスに6速アリソン製フルオートマチックトランスミッション、アリソンT280™が標準装備となり、中型路線バスの全てがトルクコンバーター搭載のアリソン製フルオートマチックトランスミッションに一本化されたことを公表しました。
アリソンT280™は、国内の大型路線バスの7割以上に搭載され、広く浸透していることを受け、2020年6月にジェイ・バス製中型路線バスに採用が始まりました。現在、アリソンT280™を搭載した中型路線バスは、全国のバス事業者に普及し始め、中でも大手バス事業者である京成グループの京成トランジットバス株式会社では現在14台が稼働しています。主に近隣アーバンリゾートエリアのホテルスタッフ・ゲスト輸送を行っている、京成トランジットバスでは、大型を含む総車両保有数142台のうち、109台のAT搭載車を保有しており、AT搭載車の占める割合は年々増えています。導入から約3年が経過し、中型にも大型路線バスと同一のボタン式シフトセレクターを採用しているため、乗り換え時にも違和感なく、スムーズに運行できることが利点の一つで、これまでに大きな故障や不具合はなく、ドライバーや整備担当者から高く評価されています。
京成トランジットバス株式会社運輸部運輸課係長の高濱立嗣氏は、「当社のドライバーの平均年齢は40代半ばで、長年AT搭載の大型路線バスの運転に慣れ親しんでいます。また、若手を中心にマニュアル車に乗らない人が増えており、中型路線バスにもAT搭載車を求める声が高まっていました。閑静な住宅密集地を走行する際、高い回転数のエンジン音によって騒音被害をもたらさないよう、ドライバーは注意を払いながら走行しますが、AMT搭載車は加速時、走行条件によってシフトアップする際にアクセルを踏み込み続けることでエンジン音が高くなる問題がありました。アリソン製AT搭載車はContinuous Power Technology™で滑らかに変速しながら加速できるため、騒音を出さずに運行でき、安心感を得ています。また、ドライバー不足の中、AT車を保有することによってドライバー採用にも優位性を感じています。」とコメントしました。商用車用エンジンのダウンサイジング化が進む中、小排気量エンジンでもアリソンのトルクコンバーターのトルク増幅によって、スムーズかつ力強い発進性を確保し、坂道の多い住宅地などの路線で威力を発揮します。定時運行と安全運転が求められる路線バスでは、ドライバーがストレスなく走行でき、安全確認に細心の注意を払うことが肝要です。交通インフラを支えるバス事業者にとって、安全な定時運行はもとより、運行ルート沿線住民との良好な関係を構築し、維持することも重要です。
特に台数を多く保有するバス事業者にとって、1台あたりのメンテナンスコストを低減することは重要な経営課題です。京成トランジットバス株式会社塩浜営業所工場長の横山隆幸氏は、「マニュアルトランスミッションに発生するクラッチの焼きつきがないだけでなく、アリソンAT搭載車は、ATFを定期的に交換するだけでよく、メンテナンス性に優れていると感じています。年間走行距離が平均45,000キロメートルとなる当社のバスは、約12年で代替えしますが、これまでに大型路線バスでも大きな不具合は発生しておらず、ダウンタイムを最小限にできていると感じています。」と述べました。
