次世代の米陸軍戦闘車両向けの革新的な電動トランスミッション開発を推進
インディアナポリス– ハイブリッド駆動システムおよび完全電気駆動システムを含む、戦術装輪車、防衛装軌車、および中型・大型商用車向けの電気駆動ソリューションの設計と製造を手掛ける世界最大手サプライヤーのアリソントランスミッション(以下、アリソン)は、米国陸軍の装軌式追跡歩兵戦闘車(IFV)や主力戦車(MBT)など、地上戦闘車両向けトランスミッションの電動化技術の開発を進めています。
商業市場における新技術の発展に伴い、防衛装軌車・戦術装輪車の電動化は勢いを増し、米国政府の投資も増加しています。電動車両には、敵に発見されにくい静寂な機動性や、生存率の向上、車内外システムへの電力供給、性能と燃費を両立する柔軟な運転モードなどの軍事的メリットがあります。
アリソントランスミッションの防衛プログラム担当バイスプレジデントであるダナ・ピタードは、「当社の防衛チームは、アリソンの商用製品への投資を活用し、それを防衛分野にも応用しています。次世代の電動トランスミッションには、アリソンの20年にわたる電気駆動分野の経験が生かされています。現在、当社は米国陸軍の次期歩兵戦闘車(OMFV)プログラムに注力しており、陸軍にとって過去40年で最大の車両調達となる可能性があり、その規模は約4,000台にも及ぶとされています。アリソンは今後も、世界中の防衛関係のパートナーやお客様と協力して、今日の厳しい駆動ソリューションへの要求に応え、将来に向けたソリューションを開発して参ります」と述べました。
2021年5月の米下院軍事委員会の戦術的空軍・陸軍小委員会での証言において、米陸軍の地上車両システムセンター所長のマイケル・カディウエックス氏は、「陸軍にとっての電動化とは、マルチドメイン作戦において実効性を高める様々な戦力を実現する手段です。具体的には、車両性能を向上させるために電力を使用することを意味し、私たちは企業と密接に連携しながら、電動化技術の発展に産業界の投資を活用しています」と述べています。
次世代電動トランスミッションの開発にあたり、アリソンは装軌車両のトランスミッションに連結されるモーターやジェネレーターおよびインバーターシステムの設計・開発・検証を行います。米国陸軍の地上車両システムセンターとの調整は進行中で、アリソンは次世代電動トランスミッションプログラムの推進に取り組み始めます。
この次世代電動トランスミッションは、アメリカン・ラインメタル・ビークル製のOMFVに採用されています。米国陸軍は、将来的に大型装輪車両を共通戦術トラック(CTT)に置き換えることを検討しており、また新型主力戦車の検討も行っていますが、これらのプログラムでは電動化技術が採用されるでしょう。
アリソンの防衛用途向け電動化ポートフォリオには、昨年、地上車両システムセンターの厳密なテストを受けたトランスミッション・インテグラル・ジェネレーター(TIG)も含まれます。TIGはレオナルドDRSと共同で開発されたもので、中型・大型の防衛装輪車両に搭載が可能です。
ピタードは、「TIGは、トランスミッションの機械的な動力を車内外で使用できる電力に変換できる革新的な技術ソリューションです。最大120kWの電力を供給し、従来の牽引式発電機への依存を低減します」と述べています。TIGは2020年軍事・航空宇宙エレクトロニックイノベーターズのプラチナ賞を受賞しました。
アリソンでは、防衛用途におけるeGen Power™電動アクスルの活用も検討しています。eGen Powerシリーズは、シングルおよびデュアルモーターとの完全一体型電動アクスルであり、多段変速ギアボックスを備え、最大13トンの定格総軸荷重を有しています。これらは、優れた加速と発進能力を生み出す低いギア比を持ちながら、高速運転中は高レンジによりエネルギー消費とシステム効率を最適化する特別な電動アクスルです。
