O recente financiamento concedido pela Federal Transit Administration reforçará os esforços da empresa de transportes para substituir os ônibus mais antigos por alternativas totalmente elétricas.
INDIANÁPOLIS, agosto de 2023 – A Allison Transmission tem o prazer de anunciar que a Indianapolis Public Transportation Corporation (IndyGo) está aplicando a verba de US$ 19 milhões obtida recentemente da Federal Transit Administration (FTA) para participar do Programa Competitivo de Baixa ou Nenhuma Emissão e Subsídios para Ônibus e Instalações de Ônibus de 2023, e ampliar o número de ônibus GILLIG de 12 metros da sua frota que serão equipados com o sistema de propulsão híbrido-elétrico Allison eGen Flex™. Os novos ônibus substituirão os veículos mais antigos da frota da IndyGo por modelos mais limpos, silenciosos e modernos, que ajudarão a reduzir as emissões e melhorar a qualidade do ar e a confiabilidade do serviço.

“O Allison eGen Flex é capaz de operar por até 50% do percurso de um ônibus com o motor a combustão desligado. O modo somente elétrico do sistema é ativado por meio da tecnologia de geofencing (perímetro virtual para uma área geográfica) e elimina as emissões e o ruído do motor durante o acesso e a descida dos passageiros, ao operar em áreas pré-definidas de alta densidade de pedestres e zonas de emissão zero. Até o momento, os ônibus híbridos-elétricos que a IndyGo colocou em serviço economizaram mais de 20 mil toneladas métricas de emissões de CO2 e mais de 7,5 milhões de litros de diesel.
