서울, 2024년 6월 7일 – 앨리슨 트랜스미션은 환경업체 이천씨엔티가 최근 마이티 및 파비스 오토매틱 차량을 추가로 구매했다고 밝혔다.
경기도 이천과 서울 송파를 중심으로 환경업을 하는 이천씨엔티는 지난 2021년 앨리슨의 전자동 변속기가 장착된 마이티 오토매틱을 구매한 이후 운전 편의성, 내구성, 효율성, 경제성, 생산성 등에 만족해 이번에 추가 구매했다. 또한, 2021년 앨리슨 전자동 변속기가 장착된 파비스 오토매틱을 구매하고 올해 추가 구매했다.
공진석 이천씨엔티 대표는 "생활폐기물을 수집하고 운반하려면 좁은 골목에서 운행하고 가다-서다를 많이 하게 되는데, 오토매틱 차량은 운전이 쉽고 피로가 덜하다"라며 "직원들이 하루에 수십 킬로미터를 주행해도 피곤하지 않다고 말할 정도로 만족도가 아주 높다"라고 말했다.
이천씨엔티는 현재 서울과 경기도에서 환경차를 운영하고 있다. 환경차는 아파트 단지나 골목에 놓인 쓰레기 봉투를 적재해야 하기 때문에 한 번에 10~30미터 움직이는 것이 대부분이다. 이처럼 장거리가 아닌 자주 서야 하는 주행을 해야 하기 때문에 수동 차량을 주행하는 건 매우 힘들 수밖에 없다. 기어 변속과 클러치 조작을 수시로 해야 하기 때문이다.
공진석 대표는 "앨리슨의 전자동 변속기는 운전자가 전방을 주시하면서 브레이크와 엑셀만 조작하면 되기 때문에 매우 편리하다"라며, "사고율이 매우 낮고 직원들이 안전성과 편리성에 대한 만족도가 매우 높다”라고 말했다.
환경차 시장에서 앨리슨이 인기인 이유는 전자동 변속기가 갖는 다양한 강점 때문이다. 오토매틱 트럭 운전자들은 기어 및 클러치 조작을 하지 않아도 되기 때문에 피로도를 거의 느끼지 않는다. 여기에, 내구성이 뛰어나 오래 사용할 수 있고, 생산성이 좋아 하루에 쓰레기 수거 작업을 더 많이 할 수 있다. 또, 오토매틱 차량은 정기적인 오일 교환 외 특별한 유지보수 비용이 발생하지 않아 매우 경제적이다.
이러한 이유로 최근 중형 및 준중형 트럭 시장에서 앨리슨 전자동 변속기를 찾는 소비자들이 늘고 있다. 중형 트럭의 대표 모델은 현대자동차의 파비스 280마력으로 앨리슨 2500 모델이 장착돼 있다. 준중형 트럭의 대표 주자는 현대 마이티로 앨리슨 1000 xFETM 모델이 장착돼 있으며, 이미 마이티 전체 중 전자동변속기가 장착된 오토매틱 차량의 비중은 50% 이상을 기록하고 있다.
