에이브럼스 전차, 아시아태평양 및 동부 유럽 배치 확대 예정
서울, 2024년 1월 24일 – 앨리슨 트랜스미션은 미국 육군이 주력으로 사용하는 에이브럼스(Abrams) 전차(Tank)의 성능을 개선하는 현대화 사업에 참여하고 신형 X1100 전자동 변속기를 납품할 계획이라고 밝혔다. 총 계약 규모는 8,330만 달러(약 1,100억 원)이다. 미 육군은 앨리슨 X1100 전자동 변속기가 장착된 에이브럼스 전차를 아시아태평양, 동부 유럽 등 현재 실전 배치된 국가들 중심으로 수출을 확대한다는 방침이다.
다나 피타드(Dana Pittard) 앨리슨 트랜스미션 방위산업 프로그램 총괄 부사장은 "앨리슨은 미국 육군과 미국의 우방국에서 사용되는 세계 최고의 주력 전차를 지원하게 돼 영광스럽게 생각한다"라며 "앞으로도 수십년 동안 방산 협력 관계를 이어 가기를 기대한다"라고 말했다.
앨리슨은 에이브럼스 현대화 사업의 요구사항을 모두 충족하기 위해 신형 변속기를 제공한다는 방침이다. 또, 앨리슨은 업그레이드 프로그램도 지원한다. 앨리슨 업그레이드 프로그램은 에이브럼스 시스템 강화 패키지 버전 III에 최상의 고객 비용 절감 조건으로 지원하기 위해 장시간 사용한 변속기의 낡은 부품을 새 부품으로 교체한다. 이를 통해 고객은 완전히 새로운 제품과 같은 변속기에 업그레이드된 소프트웨어를 사용할 수 있다.
군이 비용을 절감하면서도 새로운 "에이브럼스 시스템 강화 패키지" 버전 3 탱크를 사용할 수 있도록 업그레이드 프로그램을 지원한다. 변속기 납품은 올해 1월부터 12월까지 1년간 진행된다.
