용인시에서 처음으로 자동변속기가 장착된 현대 카운티 마을버스 운영한 결과 만족도 높아
대한민국, 서울, 5월 18일 - 앨리슨 트랜스미션은 용인시에서 시내버스, 마을버스 등 500여대의 버스를 운영 중인 경남여객이 지난 2022년 4월부터 지금까지 앨리슨 토크머틱(Allison Torqmatic®) 시리즈 자동변속기가 장착된 현대 카운티 차량을 매우 성공적으로 운영한 결과 만족도가 높아 자동변속기 버스 도입을 확대할 계획이라고 밝혔다.
경남여객의 정비 담당 최봉철 팀장은 "용인시는 도시와 농촌이 함께 어우러진 도시이기 때문에 버스 운전자가 장시간 운전을 해야 한다"며 "일반적으로 운전자들은 수동 버스를 운행할 때는 기어 및 클러치 조작을 수시로 해야 하므로 운행 후 매우 피곤함을 느낀다"고 말했다.
최봉철 팀장은 "반면 자동변속기 버스 운전자들은 기어 및 클러치 조작을 하지 않아도 되기 때문에 피로도를 거의 느끼지 않아 자동변속기 차량에 대한 만족도가 매우 높다"고 말했다.
그는 이어, "버스의 경우 정비가 매우 중요한데 앨리슨 자동변속기는 정기적인 오일 교환 외 특별한 유지보수 비용이 발생하지 않아 매우 경제적이며, 내구성 또한 매우 뛰어나다"며, "이러한 이유로 용인시 다른 운송 업체들도 앨리슨 자동변속기가 장착된 마을버스의 도입을 늘리는 추세이다"고 말했다.
운송업체에서 자동변속기가 장착된 버스를 선호하는 또 다른 이유는 운전자 채용을 원활하게 하기 위해서이다. 버스회사는 운행 시 승객이 다치지 않는 것이 중요한데, 운전이 미숙한 초보 운전자가 자칫 수동 버스를 운행하다가 급출발 및 급제동 시 사고가 발생해 승객이 다치기라도 하면 큰 낭패이기 때문이다.
이경미 앨리슨 트랜스미션 코리아 지사장은 "최근 버스회사들은 탑승객들의 사고 위험을 낮춰주고 장기적으로 유지비가 적게 드는 자동변속기 버스를 선호하는 추세"라며, "전국의 버스회사들이 자동변속기 시내버스 및 마을버스를 안정적으로 운영할 수 있도록 향후 서비스 지원을 강화하겠다"고 말했다.
