대한민국, 서울, 2020년 3월 25일 – 앨리슨 트랜스미션은 북미 최대의 중대형 트럭 제조업체인 맥트럭(Mack Trucks)이 올해 7월부터 양산에 들어갈 중형 트럭 모델 'MD시리즈'의 전자동 변속기로 '2500시리즈'를 선택했다고 밝혔다.
앨리슨 트랜스미션의 2500시리즈 제품 중 '2500 하이웨이 시리즈(2500 Highway Series)'는 MD 시리즈 트럭의 기본(스탠다드) 변속기로 사용된다. 소방차나 냉동차와 같이 엔진에서 발생된 동력을 차량에 부착된 장비에 공급하기 위해 동력인출장치(PTO, Power Take-Off)가 필요한 차량에는 '2500 러기드 듀티 시리즈(2500 Rugged Duty Series)'가 장착된다.
각 변속기엔 연비를 높여주는 '퓨얼센스2.0' 소프트웨어가 적용됐다. 퓨얼센스 2.0은 다이낵티브 시프팅(DynActive® Shifting) 기술로 개발돼 차종, 적재 화물 무게, 도로 상태 등 차량의 사양과 여러 환경 변수를 토대로 최적의 변속을 제공한다. 이를 통해 차량은 연비와 성능의 이상적 균형을 유지할 수 있다.
맥트럭의 MD시리즈 중형 트럭은 MD6, MD6 로우 프로파일(Low Profile), MD7로 구분된다. MD6의 최대적재중량은 11,791kg으로 미국의 트럭 등급 체계 중 6등급 트럭의 적재 화물 허용 범위(8,846kg- 11,793kg) 중 최대 중량보다 약간 가볍다. MD7의 최대적재중량은 14,968kg으로 7등급 범위(11,794kg-13,969kg) 중 최대 중량보다 약간 적다. 때문에, 차주는 각 등급에서 허용하는 거의 최대 중량의 화물을 적재하고 트럭을 운용할 수 있는 이점이 있다.
