Fire & Emergency
In emergency situations, time is critical. Allison Emergency Vehicle Series fully automatic transmissions are engineered to handle higher horsepower engines and deliver more torque to the wheels. Which means emergency vehicles and their personnel get on scene faster and safer.

Prognostics
Allison prognostics allow you to quickly monitor oil life, filter life and transmission health. Prognostics take the guesswork and hassle out of scheduling routine vehicle maintenance to save you time and money while providing maximum protection for the transmission. That means less downtime, lower life-cycle costs and, best of all, greater productivity for your fleet.
Power Takeoff
The Allison Emergency Vehicle Series is equipped with a standard continuous operation power takeoff provision. The 1000/2000 models offer turbine drive openings in the 3 and 9 o’clock position. The 3000/4000 models offer engine drive PTOs. The 3000 openings are side/side in the 4 and 8 o’clock position; top/side in the 1 and 8 o’clock position. The 4000 model openings are in the 1 and 8 o’clock position.
Startability
Startability is a vehicle's capability to launch and pull a load. Simply put, it's the 'grunt' or 'get-up-and-go' of a truck. Often only 1st gear ratio is used to judge a vehicle's startablity. The truth is, one has to consider the engine torque at the required launch rpm and the torque multiplication of the Allison torque converter.
Manual and automated manual transmissions have to launch at very low engine rpm in order to prevent damage to the clutch. This means less torque, which is why they have very deep 1st gear ratios to help them overcome their clutch limitations. An Allison Automatic uses the full torque from the engine and multiplies it with the torque converter. When the 1st gear ratio and rear axle ratio are factored in, the Allison provides greater startability.

Customer Profiles

The Manville Fire Department protects and serves the Borough of Manville, New Jersey. Since 1980 all of their fire and emergency vehicles have been equipped with Allison Automatics. "Having an Allison transmission in the truck makes it easier for me to focus on my job which is getting my men prepared to go fight a fire."
– Chris Ziobro, Manville Fire Department captain
2nd Reverse
Allison’s new 2nd Reverse offers a second "deep reverse" in addition to the standard reverse. It provides overall better performance and enhanced applicability for a variety of applications. Available on 4700 and 4800 EVS models.
- Greater control and engine braking during operation on steep grades
- More maneuverability when operating in confined spaces
- Slow creep capability with high engine speeds
- 17.12 mechanical ratio with effective torque converter multiplied ratio up to 32.5:1.

Shift Energy Management/Low Range Torque Protection (SEM/LRTP)
SEM/LRTP provides better engine/transmission integration to optimize the entire driveline system. The result is faster, smoother, more consistent shift quality, increased powertrain durability, improved performance and an overall more efficient vehicle operation leading to greater fuel economy. This sophisticated communication between the engine and transmission serves as the foundation for other features.

Smart Controls
Our experience in this vocation has given us the knowledge and insight to design optional features into our transmissions to get the job done quickly and safely. Allison Emergency Vehicle Series transmissions are available with customized electronic control packages that meet the specific needs of a wide variety of emergency vehicles.
| Dual Input Auxiliary Function Range Inhibit |
Provides an added level of safety and confidence by integrating two separate signals from different specialized vehicle equipment. Keeps the transmission in Neutral when both inputs are active. Notifies the operator when one is active and the other is not. Dual Input Auxiliary Function Range Inhibit Flyer |
| Fire Truck Pump Mode |
The transmission controls command an immediate shift to fourth range once the PTO engages and Drive is selected. One-to-one direct drive for split-shaft PTOs. Fire Truck Pump Mode Flyer |
Retarder Enable |
Get the best braking possible through total transmission retarder/vehicle integration. Electronic controls precisely blend the transmission, retarder and service brakes for peak efficiency. Retarder Enable Flyer |
Output Speed Indicator |
Exceed a preset output speed and the transmission electronic controls produce a usable electronic signal for warning devices and other auxiliary vehicle equipment. Output Speed Indicator Flyer |
